Coaching Ministry Philosophy

SLI is a walk-alongside coaching ministry. We focus on a unique and radical way of leading. Unlike typical leadership models that are built around leaders who try to control outcomes, SLI is about empowering teams to discover their own solutions. The outcome includes a shift in the culture, both within the organization and beyond.

What do we mean by “walk-alongside”? We believe that real change comes through deep investment within deep relationships. Therefore, we work with just a few groups but spend a year or more with each one. We see our work as partnering with a group of leaders as they move toward their vision.

What do we mean by “coaching”? Consultants often offer solutions and provide answers. Coaches provide processes and ask questions. We believe the people in every group have the solutions they need within them; our role is to guide the process of discovery.

What do we mean by “ministry”? Ministry is about service for the sake of others. As a result, one of our key goals is developing the spiritual leadership of every participant. We aim both to become and to develop Christ-like leaders who serve in love.

We have worked in multiple cultures including a variety of locations, ethnicities, economic levels, and both secular and sacred contexts. We have found our coaching productive in settings from the very large to the very small.
