Coaching Training
SLI has combined its years of leadership experience with a growing understanding of biblical principles and appreciation of the work of the Holy Spirit to assist church leaders in need of coaching. SLI began its coaching work by spending as much as 20 hours per week in walk-along-side coaching for local churches. Through word of mouth and God’s blessings, these opportunities have grown to include coaching for pastors, regional associations of churches, and seminary environments as each attempts to live into new realities. Some of our most unique coaching projects have included assisting the KY United Methodist Conference in developing ways to restart churches that were nearing the end of their life cycle. In these projects the old churches bravely chose to give up their control of leadership, assets, buildings and even their name as they joined with other congregations to form a new environment. Just as God works in the life of broken people he has shown his power to work in the life of broken churches. Our best stories come from these projects where leadership is accountable to be Spiritual first and is freed to continually follow the work of the Spirit. The purpose of coach training is to provide walk-along-side support for a ministry and its leaders as they attempt to overcome barriers that have prevented them from reaching their potential.
