Al Gwinn

Al Gwinn served as the resident bishop of the North Carolina Conference/Raleigh Area of the United Methodist Church from 2004 to 2012. During that time he chaired the Design Team for the Council of Bishops’ District Superintendents and Directors of Connectional Ministries Annual Training, the Administrative Concerns Committee and the 2008 General Conference Commission on the Study of Ministry. He was also a member of the Board of Publications. Al served on the Asbury Theological Seminary Board of Trustees from 2004 – 2020. Presently, Al is the Bishop in Residence at Lexington Centenary UMC.

Al is also a certified Coach with Spiritual Leadership Inc. where he spends many hours each week coaching local churches, pastors, district superintendents, and bishops.

When Al is not serving in one of these roles he loves working on his cattle and horse farm where he is constantly finding so many reasons to worship the Creator. Al and Joyce live on their Hawk’s Nest Farm in Clark County and are developing an Agritourism opportunity for persons of all ages to enjoy their farm.
