Bill Gottschalk-Fielding
Bill is an ordained United Methodist elder serving in upstate New York since 1990, including twenty years in parish ministry. He loves the local church and thinks it is one of God’s best ideas! Bill currently serves at the conference level as Assistant to the Bishop. As a parish pastor and as a conference executive, his calling is to help individuals, teams, and churches become more like Jesus and share Jesus’ love with their families, friends, co-workers, schoolmates, and communities. He has extensive experience leading teams and organizations to discern God’s will and achieve missional aims in healthy and sustainable ways, including directing the consolidation of four upstate New York judicatories to form the Upper New York Conference.
Bill is a graduate of Cornell University (BA, cum laude in Government), The Theological School at Drew University (Master of Divinity, summa cum laude), and the University of Connecticut (Graduate Certificate in Public and Non-profit Management).
Bill married his best friend from college, Dori, and they’ve been blessed with two daughters, Tasha and Alisha. Bill’s an avid reader, a serious walker, and an adventurous cook. He also spends a fair amount of time doing home improvement projects and caring for the acre of woods on the family property – if possible, with U2, the Beatles, or Sting playing in the background.
