Matthias Fankhauser experienced an SLI process in 2013. He was so enthusiastic that he trained as a coach in the USA. Since then, he has been coaching teams on their way into the future.

When he’s not drinking coffee and thinking about the church of tomorrow, he accompanies teams through change processes and realignments.

He trains pioneers, gives lectures, and organizes retreats on a wide variety of topics. He has a special passion for start-up projects that attempt to reshape the church. He also coaches traditional local churches and regional processes, trains coaches, and has experience with large and small teams.

Matthias completed his CAS in Leadership at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts with a thesis on agile working methods entitled “Self-organization needs leadership.”

Matthias is a member of the SLI Team Europe, the strategic management team in German-speaking countries. He also heads the Community Development department of the United Methodist Church (EMC) Switzerland and is senior pastor of the EMC congregation “Church otherwise”, which brings together pioneering christian projects.
